Your Dental Implant Consultation
When you visit our practice for your initial consultation you’ll sit down with Dr. Bedich to discuss your goals for tooth replacement. Because you’re an essential part of this process, Dr. Bedich takes the time to really understand what you want to accomplish and addresses any concerns you may have. He’ll also explain every step of the process so you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about your care.
Your Comprehensive Examination
During your consultation visit, Dr. Bedich will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone and take full X-rays and special CBCT scans of your mouth. He’ll use this information to create a treatment plan suited to your individual needs. He’ll also use this information to determine if your mouth is prepared to support dental implants, or if any supplemental treatments are necessary. Dr. Bedich offers a full range of treatments–such as bone grafting and gum disease treatment–to prepare your teeth, gums, and jawbone for dental implants and ensure your procedure is successful.
Once Dr. Bedich has all the information he needs, he will design a treatment plan and present it to you, along with his recommendations, so you can decide if it’s the right option for you. If you have any concerns about how much your treatment will cost, he’ll explain all of the financing options available to you. Our goal is to help make dental implants affordable for you. Dental Implant Placement
Once you have approved your treatment plan and any necessary supplemental procedures have been completed, you’ll have your dental implants and restorations placed, involving the following steps:
Placement of the Dental Implant Fixture
During the surgical procedure, Dr. Bedich will place the titanium implant post (also called a fixture) into your jawbone. If you qualify for same-day or immediate load implants, your replacement tooth, bridge, or denture will be attached and you’ll leave this appointment with your fully restored smile. If your case would benefit from additional healing, he will attach a temporary cap to your implant to protect the surgical site until you return to have your permanent restoration installed.
Recovery and Osseointegration
The recovery process is essential to the success of your dental implants. During this period, the jawbone will fuse with the titanium post. This process, called osseointegration, creates a stable, durable foundation for your tooth restoration. Dr. Bedich will give you instructions to follow during the recovery period and we may schedule some follow-up appointments to ensure everything heals properly.
Attaching the Restoration
After your jawbone has fully fused to the implant post you’ll return to our office to have the final two pieces placed. During this visit, Dr. Bedich will attach an abutment to the implant post to fasten the restoration. Then your restoration–crown, bridge, or denture–will be attached.
